the kids have been playing all afternoon and dusk has arrived. two scooters and some rocket balloons have kept mike, rafael,rebecca,abishek and mike busy all afternoon.

our kids (don't know where dan was when i snapped the picture) waiting for rosh hashana dinner to begin at the starin house. madeline, helena, clare, danielle, bob, will, sarah and dan together again. the big kids have come home from their various colleges, jobs etc. to enjoy this time with friends and family. we sorely missed arden and liz!

we all spent the day at the last nationals game of the season. tom is mesmerized, no matter how many times we go. mike is, of course, bored by the entire thing and spends most of his time watching the people. the nats lost, but the spirit of the game was phenomenal. washingtonians (and us suburbanites) are so thankful to have baseball back in washington, that everyone stood and applauded the entire game. they have given us a great year of baseball!

taking advantage of a half day of school, we set out for the farm on wednesday to pick apples. we spent over an hour collecting 20 lbs. of various apples for apple pie and applesauce. i have a busy week of baking ahead, i guess.
