today is sarah's last day of high school and is she ever happy! she has been waiting four years for this day. she'll even be able to sleep late for two days until 5 a.m. swim practice begins.
next year sarah is off to the scholar's program at university of maryland, college park. we have begun composing the condolence card for her roommate. should be an interesting year ahead.

john's brother, tom and his girlfriend rebecca drove down from new york to celebrate with us. our court hasn't seen much other than minivans for some time, so the arrival of his porsche was quite exciting. john's mom, mary, enjoys the visit with her kids and grandkids.

the college crowd begins to gather for the graduation celebration. will, bob, dan and danielle are happy to be together again. as they will disperse, too soon, for school and employment, they are making the most of their time together.

the weather was beautiful and the atmosphere festive as we gathered with 120 friends to celebrate willam's graduation from univ. of maryland, college park, sarah's graduation from wootton high school, and madeline's graduation from middle school.sarah is laughing with her friends- she will miss them as they are off to colleges across the country. i guess she will spend a LOT of time on instant messenger next year.

john is off to work on his new bike. finally, after 15 years, i succeeded in convincing him to purchase a new bike! it wasn't easy, as john is loyal to a fault. but i guess, after 24 years of marriage, this loyalty is truly a priceless asset.

a big week ahead

this week we have a triple graduation. will graduates from the university of maryland, college park with a degree in economics and government and politics, sarah graduates from wootton high school and is headed off to the university of maryland, college park, and madeline graduates from middle school. lots of changes on the horizon.

mike and tom are keeping life simple- just moving on to second grade.

as always, we will host a big party to celebrate the events and serve an enormous barbeque of ribs and chicken with all the fixins'. thought about a pig roast, but my mom, who keeps kosher, might have issues with that. currently, i am baking up a storm- but it is fun- there is nothing like throwing a big party! i am hoping for good weekend weather, otherwise, fitting 100 people into our tiny house will be cozy. fingers crossed.

we are still in a holding pattern on the dog's pregnancy- we should know in two more weeks. dogs are quite lucky- eight weeks gestation for ten little ones- what efficiency.

it has become clear that mike and tom have entered boyhood-they will spend countless hours in the afternoon playing in the creek across the street. the neighborhood kids join in and homework is simply put on hold.
